During Christmas in Costa Rica, people like to decorate their houses by putting many pretty tropical plants. Sometimes they make nice family made plants. They also may place fruits and plastic animals around the homes. Additionally they make homemade Christmas wreaths and decorate them with berries, red coffee beans and ribbons. They decorate the outside of buildings with Christmas lights.
On Christmas Eve they put on their best cloths and go to midnight mass. After midnight mass the main Christmas meal is served as dinner and the usual food is chicken pork or turkey. They also drink lots of eggnog and rum punch.
On Christmas there are lots of parties, parades, rodeos and street dancing. Carnivals are held in every city and these carnivals include dancing and floats.
Now that you know how Costa Rica spends their Christmas you can go celebrate your normal American Christmas. Merry Christmas!
